Mick George, UK

A Long-Term Partnership with Mick George Group (UK)

The Mick George Group, based in the East of England, is one of the UK’s leading suppliers to the construction industry, operating over 600 HGV vehicles across more than 40 sites and employing over 1,000 people.

The company provides a wide range of services, and as part of its waste management operations, Mick George produces RDF for export, primarily to Denmark.

Challenge

With increasing production volumes, Mick George needed to upgrade its bale wrapping capacity at the Great Billing site. The existing wrapping solution was no longer able to keep up with the growing throughput requirements.

Key requirements for the new solution included:

  • Reliable performance supported by strong after-sales service
  • Capacity to match the baler and achieve 30–35 tonnes per hour
  • Clean operation with no littering or material loss
  • Integrated net wrapping capability

Solution

Cross Wrap delivered a CW Direct Bale Wrapper, replacing the Cross Wrap’s CW2500 Wrapping line delivered in 2017 at the Great Billing site in 2024. The new solution is designed to operate directly in line with the baler, ensuring efficiency, seamless material flow, and clean processes.

In addition, Mick George operates another Cross Wrap Direct Bale Wrapper at its St. Ives site. Originally delivered in 2016 and later refurbished in 2022, the machine continues to support their operations reliably.

Key takeaway

Mick George’s journey highlights the value of a scalable, long-term technology partnership. By expanding their operations with an additional Cross Wrap solution, they have been able to increase capacity while maintaining reliable and clean bale handling.

Cross Wrap supports customers throughout their growth – offering solutions that adapt to increasing production needs, added with trusted performance and lifecycle support.

We have been working with Cross Wrap bale wrappers since 2016, and we have been satisfied with the cooperation. The newest machine we ordered, the Direct Wrapper, is excellent for our requirements. It works perfectly with the baler and delivers clean and tidy wrapped bales.
