Benefits of baling and wrapping waste at an MRF
“We have been very satisfied with the Direct Wrapper since day one. The wrapper is easy to maintain; we have it serviced quarterly and conduct our own daily and weekly inspections to keep downtime to a minimum.” – Liam Pearce, Plant Manager, Fortress Recycling
Innovative Waste Management in West Midlands
Fortress Recycling, a well-established business operating in the West Midlands in the UK, specializes in the collection and processing of commercial and industrial waste.
With a fleet of 20 trucks, including rear end loaders and front end loaders, Fortress ensures that all collected waste is brought back to their Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in Warwick and processed on the same day. As a zero waste to landfill and carbon-neutral company, Fortress is committed to sustainability and operational excellence.
Enhanced Efficiency with Cross Wrap’s Direct Bale Wrapper
When Fortress opened their MRF in 2017, they recognized a need for advanced equipment for exporting waste material. “The CW Direct Bale Wrapper gave us the capability to export our Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF), which is essential for us due to the limited capacity at Energy from Waste facilities in the UK.” says Mr. Liam Pearce, Plant Manager at Fortress Recycling.
Cross Wrap’s CW Direct Bale Wrapper offers numerous benefits, including reduced wrapping film consumption, minimized bale handling, and improved overall efficiency in waste management processes.
Fortress’ facility processes and bales approximately 100 tonnes of waste per day, with a substantial portion being RDF that requires wrapping. “We produce somewhere around 5 bales per hour. However, the CW Direct Wrapper is capable of running at much faster speeds than we require.”

Reliable wrapping machine and smooth collaboration
Mr. Pearce shared his satisfaction with the CW Direct Bale Wrapper, stating, “We have been very satisfied with the Direct Wrapper since day one.”
“The machine rarely skips a beat, and when it does, the service team is always ready to assist us over the phone or via WhatsApp to get it back up and running quickly. The wrapper is easy to maintain; we have it serviced quarterly and conduct our own daily and weekly inspections to keep downtime to a minimum.”
The relationship between Fortress Recycling and Cross Wrap has been positive and collaborative. “We have a good relationship with the team at Cross Wrap. They are always on hand to help us when needed, and we are always more than happy to accommodate site visits for potential customers exploring wrapping options,” Mr. Pearce noted.
